Reflections – Peace

Reflecting on peace
In Israel when you greet someone or say goodbye, you use the word Shalom. It is a word full of the blessing of God.
Shalom is a Hebrew word meaning peace, harmony, wholeness, completeness, prosperity, welfare and tranquility, but can also be used to say hello or goodbye!
Jesus continuously reminds us that He will give us His peace:
“Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid” John 14:27
Reflecting on the word shalom and its meaning points us to a complete well- being on physical, emotional, social and spiritual dimension of our being and flows from our relationships being put right- with God, with myself and with others.
As we enter Easter time, we reflect on Jesus taking all our sin on Him on the cross and beside the physical pain experienced unimaginable inner agony so that we can know a deep endless peace as we are reconciled to God.
